Part 7 - Light Sensitivity

The sensitivity of a film ist stated in ISO.

If you duplicate the value you also have to duplicate the light sensitivity.

Speaking so a film with ISO 200 is twice as sensitive as a film with ISO 100, but half as sensitive as ISO 400.

The more sensitive a film is, the more rest light it can capture, that means the film needs less light, to generate a properly exposed photo. The more sensitive a film is, the more coarse grained the photos will be. Indeed it only catches somebody`s eye with a sensitivity starting from 1200 ISO.

Part 8 - Composition

Now it should be enough with the technical parts. In this section we turn to the motives and compositions in pictures.

For a good picture, it is important to put something into the center of the photo to lift it up from all the other motives. Doing so you will guide the viewer`s eye, the picture has a center of attraction and leaves a harmonic impression.

It doesn`t say, that the "object of desire" has to be in the exact center of the photo. That is quite unimaginative und gets boring. A more interesting effect you will get, if you seperate the motive in two-thirds and one third. That is called the golden section.
